2024 Application & Audition Information

**The following information is for the Young Artist program. Registration for our Jr. High training program opens March 1.

Join us in Streator, Illinois, for our 8th annual week-long Summer Music Festival on June 8-15, 2024. Applications open on January 1, 2024. Please read on for more information about the application and audition process.

Early application is encouraged as spots are limited, and admissions will occur on a rolling basis.

Tuition: $300 per young artist

*Financial assistance is available for anyone who needs it. Please mark ‘financial assistance needed’ on your application. Executive Director Kate Tombaugh will work privately with families to ensure finances are not a roadblock for attendance. All answers remain confidential

Audition Process: You will be meeting with Executive Director Kate Tombaugh. Your audition will begin with vocalizing and testing your vocal range. You will be asked to perform a prepared piece (options listed below). After vocalizing and performing your piece, we will take time to discuss and talk through your needs and goals for the training program and beyond. If you would like to be considered for a solo on the Student Showcase, you must prepare a solo* for the audition.

*We recommend a piece from musical theater, art song, folk, or classical repertoire. This is only a requirement if you would like to be considered for a solo on our Student Showcase concert during festival week.

Audition Pieces: You can choose from one of the following four options

  1. Solo performed recently at the Solo and Ensemble contest

  2. My Country ‘Tis of Thee*

  3. The Star Spangled Banner*

  4. America the Beautiful*

*performed a capella
