Janani Sridhar

Dr. Janani Sridhar is a Singaporean soprano praised for her “loveliest of voices” and her compelling portrayals of operatic heroines. Equally at home on the concert stage, Dr. Sridhar has performed with orchestras across the United States and Asia, earning acclaim for her expressive artistry and stylistic versatility.

A passionate advocate for contemporary music, she has premiered works by both American and Singaporean composers, and has collaborated closely with notable figures such as Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, Evan Mack, and Tom Cipullo.

Currently serving as Voice Area Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Voice at DePauw University, Dr. Sridhar is a sought-after pedagogue whose previous teaching appointments include Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Centenary College of Louisiana.

Her recent performance highlights include her Carnegie Hall debut in Poulenc’s Gloria, as well as appearances in Bach’s Coffee Cantata, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Britten’s Les Illuminations, and a multi-state recital tour spanning Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Louisiana, and Indiana.

Last summer, she was selected as one of five singers for the Cincinnati Song Initiative’s Fellowship of the Song, and appeared as Eulalie Shinn in The Music Man with Charlottesville Opera. This season, she joins the Art of Song program at the Toronto Summer Music Festival.
