Natalie Mustea is a performer and voice teacher from Crystal Lake, IL. She received her Bachelor of Music from Millikin University and is currently a second-year graduate student at DePaul University studying with Dr. Viktoria Vizin. Natalie has recently performed the role of Miss Wordsworth in the DePaul Opera Theatre’s Spring 2023 Production of Albert Herring.

Other roles she has performed include Belinda in Dido and Aeneas and Monica from The Medium. She is also a member of Vizin Virtual Ensemble, performing as a guest artist for the video production of The Story of Carmen, and recently sang for the Wagner Society of America for a concert celebrating the 210th birthday of Richard Wagner.

Before the pandemic, Natalie was a finalist in the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra Concerto/Aria Competition and performed Joaquin Rodriguez’s Cuatro Madrigales Amatorios and “Je veux vivre” from Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette in the Young Artists winner’s orchestral concert. She received the 2021 Mary B. Merris Award from Millikin University, an honor given to “outstanding voice students based on excellence and achievement.”

When she isn’t performing, Natalie is a voice teacher at Ovation Academy in Oak Park, IL, and back to Rock in Arlington Heights, IL. Natalie’s teaching philosophy is for her students to become well-rounded performers and musicians. She finds motivation in teaching all singing styles and has experience in coaching auditions, recording students in a music studio, and assisting students in songwriting.

Upon completing this year’s music festival, Natalie will attend the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, as a part of the Opera Studio, where she will be afforded many opportunities for performance and growth.
